Judd Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week
Lincoln - Nebraska's Audrey Judd captured the Big Ten Women's Golfer-of-the-Week award, when the conference announced its honor on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Judd, a senior from Olathe, Kan., shared medalist honors at the Chip-N Club Invitational, Oct. 1-3, coming from four strokes back in the final round to tie UC Irvine's Janet Yeo to claim a share of the tournament title. It was Judd's second career tournament crown, joining a win at the 2017 Westbrook Spring Invitational in late-February of 2017.
Judd's win at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln at Nebraska's lone home tournament of the year marked her third consecutive top-10 tournament finish to open the season. Her final-round, two-under-par 70 at the Chip-N Club Invitational matched her season best, and came on a day that featured swirling and gusty winds, rain, and temperatures that dropped nearly 15 degrees from the start of the round to its completion shortly after 1 p.m.
Judd leads Nebraska with a 73.50 stroke average on the season, including scores of at or better than par in four of her eight rounds.
Judd's Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award marked her second career weekly conference honor. Her first came on March 2, 2017, following her title at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Judd's award also gives Nebraska a pair of Big Ten Conference Women's Golfer-of-the-Week awards already this season. Sophomore Kate Smith won the conference's first award on Sept. 6, following a runner-up finish at the UNO Invitational, Sept. 1-2.
So far this season, Nebraska owns a pair of team runner-up finishes in two stroke-play events and Husker golfers have already accounted for nine individual top-10 tournament finishes, including three from Judd, three more from sophomore Annie Sritragul, a pair from Smith and one from sophomore Haley Thiele.
The Huskers will be back in action at the Pinehurst Challenge in North Carolina, Oct. 9-10.
