Tulsa, Okla. - Four Nebraska men's tennis players hit the road for their first competition of the fall season at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships.
In the pre-qualifying draw, Toby Boyer produced Nebraska's most successful week. The sophomore from Ham Lake, Minn., fought his way to a 7-5, 7-5 win over Northern Arizona's Tim Handel in the first round. Boyer added a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Purdue's Recardo Medinilla, before dropping a 4-6, 2-6 decision to North Carolina's Joshua Peck.
Fellow Husker sophomore Micah Klousia rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 vicotry over L. Pereira from South Dakota State in the pre-qualifying round before falling 6-1, 4-6, 4-6 to Eastern Washington's Scott Paz.
Sophomore Tomislav Antoljak competed in the pre-qualifying consolation and notched a 6-1, 6-4 win over S. Martinson of TCU. Antoljak then dropped a 7-5, 3-6, 2-6 decision to Marcus Vidgren of UNC Greensboro.
Freshman Chris Dean rounded out the Husker contingent with a 7-6 (3), 1-6, 3-6 setback to UNLV's R. Alberts.
The Huskers return to the court for the ITA Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Okla., Oct. 20-24.
