The Nebraska women’s tennis team begins its last invitational of the fall season at the Baseline Tennis Center and the University of Minnesota play host to the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships Oct. 13-17.
The Huskers join 26 other Midwest universities to start the day at 8 a.m. with a round of 32 doubles matches and the first round of singles beginning at 11. Doubles format stands as pro-sets (eight games) with a tiebreak if necessary. Semifinals and finals will be two sets with match tiebreaks. Singles matches will have no-ad scoring with a tiebreaker if the score is split.
Friday will begin again with 8 a.m. doubles, with 16 matches in the morning before the second round of singles beginning about 10 a.m. Doubles will start again at 3 p.m. to finish competition for the day.
The Big Red will face Midwest competition again on Saturday morning with another round of 16 doubles followed by the quarterfinals and then 16 singles to round out the evening.
Action will continue over the weekend on Sunday with the quarterfinals of singles and semifinals in both doubles and singles play. Competition comes to a close on Monday, Oct. 17 with finals matches.
