Kansas City, Kan. - The top-ranked Nebraska bowling team went 4-1 in five sets of five-game Baker matches on Friday, and sit in first place overall with a pinfall of 5,209 after the first day of competition at the Central Missouri Mid-America Invitational at KC Bowl in Kansas City, Kan.
No. 11 Central Missouri, which is hosting the event, is in second with a pinfall of 4,741.
The Cornhuskers began the day with three consecutive wins, starting with a 1,048-944 win over Lincoln (Mo.), followed by a 1,062-862 win over Maryville. NU closed its opening run with a 984-873 win over Drury.
Nebraska dropped its only match of the day to the hosts by just one pin in a 989-988 victory for the Jennies.
The Big Red ended the day of competition with a 1,127-867 win over Elmhurst.
The Huskers will wrap up play at the Mid-America Invitational on Saturday, with five traditional matches beginning at 8:45 a.m. Total pinfall from the two days of competition will determine the tournament champion.
