Five Huskers Set to Compete at Winter Airgun Championships

The Nebraska rifle team will send five shooters to the 2016 Winter Airgun Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend. Rachel Martin, Samantha Peterson, Rachel Yager, Dacotah Faught and Kayla Gadeken will compete in the competition at the Olympic Training Center on Dec. 2-4. Competition is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. each day.

The competition is a three-day event, where each day is treated as a separate match. Each individual will compete all three days and will have a chance to compete in the finals at the conclusion of each day. The top eight competitors will advance to the finals. The first-place individual at the finals will receive an additional eight points that will be added to their previous total score, second place will receive an additional seven points, third place will receive an additional six points, and so on.

Winter Airgun Championships serve as a qualifier for the Bavarian Airgun Championships in January 2017 and the Junior World Championships in June 2017.
