2012: Sophomore
Lara Dykstra started all 32 matches at libero for the Huskers in 2012 • Totaled 371 digs as a sophomore • Averaged 3.09 digs, 0.20 aces and 0.42 assists per set • Recorded 15 or more digs eight times in 2012, with double-digit digs in 23 of the Huskers' 32 matches • Notched a streak of at least 10 digs for 11 consecutive matches • Recorded a season-high 24 digs at Michigan on Nov. 2 • Helped the Huskers defeat defending national champion UCLA with 20 digs on Aug. 25 • Ranked third on the team in aces • Helped hold Duquesne to a .010 hitting percentage • Also limited Ohio State to a .048 hitting percentage and Iowa to a .094 hitting percentage.  

2011: Freshman
In her first season with the Huskers, Dykstra took over the role of libero after all-time Nebraska digs leader Kayla Banwarth graduated in 2010 • Was one of the Huskers' most consistent players and was a major contributor on the team • Became just the seventh true freshman to start a season opener during Coach John Cook's career at Nebraska • Set the NU freshman single-season digs record with 399 and finished second on the freshman single-season digs per set list with 3.59 • Averaged 3.59 digs, 0.33 assists and 0.14 service aces per set • Recorded 15 or more digs eight times in 2011 • Appeared in all 30 matches • Opened the season with one of her most impressive matches, recording 28 digs against New Mexico State in helping the Huskers to a 3-2 win • Her 28 digs against New Mexico State ranked ninth in Nebraska volleyball single-match performances and the highest total by a Husker since 2009 • Reached double figures 22 times, including her season-high performance against New Mexico State • Recorded a season-best two aces twice in 2011, with the last coming at Iowa, in helping the Huskers clinch their first Big Ten title • Ranked third on the team in service aces • Helped hold Iowa to a .000 hitting percentage on Oct. 10, marking the lowest hitting percentage for a Nebraska opponent all season • Helped limit Albany to a .038 hitting percentage for the match, Creighton to a .053 hitting percentage on Sept. 8, Indiana to a .022 hitting percentage of Oct. 8 and Michigan State to a .026 hitting percentage on Nov. 5.

High School
Enrolled at Nebraska in January of 2011 and played in Nebraska’s three spring matches • Named the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) Division I-AA Player of the Year in 2010, was an Under Armour Girls’ High School All-America Watch List pick and was honored as an ESPN RISE Volleyball All-America Honorable-Mention selection while at Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, Calif. • Led the Sea Hawks to a Harbor League title in 2010 with a 29-8 record and carried the team to the state semifinals • Led the team in kills (481), blocks (50), digs (456) and aces (47) • Described as a five-tool player and the 52nd-best recruit in the country by • One of the top young sand players in the country, Dykstra and teammate Rebecca Strehlow finished ninth at the 2010 FIVB Beach Youth World Championships in Porto, Portugal, after entering the tournament as the 24th seed •Was one of four players picked to represent Team USA at the 2008 World Championships in The Hague, Netherlands • Competed for Coach Tim Jenson’s Sports Shack Club Team • Team took first at the 2010 USAV Girls’ Junior National Championship, where they went 10-1, winning 21 of their 24 sets • Picked the Huskers over home-state school UCLA. Lara is the daughter of Joe and Lisa Dykstra and has three sisters, Jenna, Devon and Skylar, and one brother, Joey • Comes from an athletic family as both of her older sisters, Jenna and Devon, played volleyball at the collegiate level, while her younger sister, Skylar, was a teammate of Lara’s. Her older brother Joey played volleyball at USC and is now a professional sand player and her father, Joe, was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1983.
