Lincoln - Eight Nebraska women's basketball players were among an impressive list of 302 Nebraska student-athletes across all sports who claimed spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll, the University of Nebraska announced on Monday, June 15.

Among the 302 student-athletes who achieved 3.0 or better grade-point averages during the semester, 52 Huskers posted perfect 4.0 GPAs, including women's basketball players Nikki Bober, Kala Kuhlmann and Harleen Sidhu.

Bober, a 6-4 junior center from Murdock, Neb., posted a perfect 4.0 GPA as a management major during the spring, while Kuhlmann, a 5-8 junior guard from Charter Oak, Iowa, added another perfect 4.0 to her resume' in psychology and Spanish. Sidhu,a 6-1 forward from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, also produced a perfect grade-point average.

Bober, Kuhlmann and Sidhu were joined on the spring honor roll by teammates Kaitlyn Burke, Kelsey Griffin, Cory Montgomery, Nicole Neals and Jessica Periago.

Nebraska's representation on the spring honor roll marked a nearly 12 percent increase over last spring, when 270 Huskers earned honor roll spots. Along with the 32 additional members of the spring honor roll, 16 more Huskers posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages this spring compared to the 36 4.0 GPAs notched by NU student-athletes in the spring of 2008.

Nebraska's approach to recruiting the nation's finest student-athletes yielded a remarkably diverse contingent of spring academic honorees that included representatives of 30 U.S. states and 29 student-athletes from 12 foreign countries, including honor roll members from four Canadian provinces. Husker honor roll members also came to Nebraska from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Jamaica, the Netherlands and Sweden.
