Outlook (2008)
Mark Tate enters the 2008 season as the Huskers’ most experienced player. Tate has racked up a combined 61 singles and doubles wins in his three years as a collegian, including 33 as a Husker and 28 as a Northern Illinois Husky. Tate will be one of the Huskers’ best and most experienced doubles players, where he has excelled in his collegiate career. He will also compete for a regular spot in the singles lineup, where he has a career record of 32-29.

Junior (2006-07)
After struggling in singles play during the fall season, going 1-8, Tate recovered well in the spring, posting a 6-1 record at the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 spots. His .857 spring winning percentage led the team for the second straight year. In doubles play, Tate teamed up with Adrian Szatmary in the fall, where the duo earned a 5-4 record. Tate wasn’t as successful in the spring, going 4-14 while playing with five different Huskers throughout the season. Tate was recognized for his academic success by earning a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll in 2007.

Sophomore (2005-06)
As the only Husker to produce a winning record in singles during the spring season (9-7), Tate also was impressive in doubles, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors with Jerry Posch. The duo competed in 20 dual matches in the spring, earning a record of 8-12 overall.

At Northern Illinois (2004-05)
Primarily competing at the No. 3 spot during his freshman year as a Husky, Tate compiled a 16-13 overall singles record and a 12-13 overall doubles record.

High School
Tate won a 4A state championship in singles as a senior at Oak Ridge North High School. He compiled a singles record of 156-7 in his high school career.

Mark was born on Dec. 16, 1988, in The Woodlands, Texas, and is the son of David and Margaret Tate. He has one brother Matt (26) and is majoring in business administration at Nebraska.
