Patrick Kennedy may see more varsity action in 2003 after returning from an injury that sidelined him all of last spring. Kennedy should continue to gain confidence and improve his game this season. He has a good groundstroke and his awareness on the court will play a large role in his development.

As a Sophomore (2001-02):

Kennedy did not see any action for the Huskers during the dual meet campaign due to an injury. Before the injury, he played in the season-opening tournament at Rice where he fell in his lone match. During the fall season, Kennedy posted an 0-4 mark in tournament singles play. Off the court, Kennedy excelled in the classroom, as he was named to the Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll in Fall 2001 and Spring 2002.

As a Freshman (2000-01):

Kennedy played in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions for Nebraska and garnered a 2-6 record. His only doubles action came during the fall season when he teamed with former Husker Ryan Haith to record an 0-2 mark. In the classroom, Kennedy was named to the Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll in Fall 2000 and Spring 2001.

High School:

Kennedy ranked as high as 21st nationally among juniors and was a Fiesta Bowl finalist in the boys 16-and-under singles division in 1998. Kennedy was a state singles champion for Gaston Day High School three straight years. He also ran track and cross country and was an all-state pick in both sports for three years.

Patrick is the son of Olivia Dorn-Kennedy and Jim Kennedy and was born June 8, 1982. He has one sister, Mary Beth Owen. Patrick is majoring in biochemistry at Nebraska.
