2005 Outlook
Fullback Grant Miller has yet to hit the field as a Cornhusker, but he expects that to change in 2005. The 6-0, 225-pound Miller is listed as the Huskers' No. 2 fullback behind fellow junior Dane Todd heading into fall camp. Both Miller and Todd will look to fill the void left by the graduation of 2004 starter Steve Kriewald. With his outstanding size, Miller could see action in short-yardage situations. A highly regarded recruit out of the state of Massachusetts, Miller sat out 2002 as a redshirt, and did not see action last fall.

Career
A reserve fullback, Miller did not see game action in 2003 or 2004. Miller redshirted during his first season at Nebraska in 2002.

Before Nebraska (Veterans Memorial HS)
A three-year starter on offense and defense, Miller played fullback and linebacker for Veterans Memorial High School and Coach Ed Nizwantowski. Miller rushed for 1,150 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior, despite missing the season’s first three games with an injury. He also had 26 receptions for 308 yards and two touchdowns with 50 tackles, eight sacks, one interception and four fumble recoveries from his linebacker position. He was his team’s MVP as a junior and senior and earned Greater Boston League All-Star honors in 2000 and 2001. Miller was named the most outstanding athlete in his class at Veterans Memorial. He threw the shot put and javelin and ran the 100, 300 and low hurdles on the track. Miller selected Nebraska after also taking visits to Penn State, USC and Boston College.

Personal
The son of Christine Miller and John Miller, Grant was born on Dec. 23, 1983. Two of his brothers, Lee (UTEP) and Christopher (Amherst) played college football. Grant is a sociology major, and earned a spot on the 2003 Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll. He has volunteered his time in local hospital visits and with the Scouts Under Lights Program.
