2003 (Senior)
Patrick Kabongo was a part-time starter in his final two seasons on the Nebraska defensive line and served as Ryon Bingham's top backup at nose tackle in 2003. In his career, Kabongo played 42 games with nine starts and recorded 110 total tackles, including 14 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Kabongo was one of Nebraska's most decorated players off the field during his career, earning a spot on the AFCA Good Works Team in 2001, before claiming a spot on the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team in both 2001 and 2002. He was also awarded the 2003 Brook Berringer Memorial Scholarship.

The native of Montreal, Quebec, signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions following the 2004 NFL Draft. he finished 2003 with 35 tackles in 13 games and had a season-high six tackles each against Troy State and Missouri in his only two starts of the season. he added six tackles against Kansas State.

2002 (Junior)
Kabongo was one of the Huskers' top pass rushers and finished sixth on the team in tackles with 62 stops, the second-best total among Husker defensive linemen. He posted nine tackles for loss totaling 25 yards and had a pair of sacks for 17 yards. He added five quarterback hurries, caused a fumble and broke up a pair of passes at the line of scrimmage.

Kabongo alternated at defensive tackle early in the season. He shared a sack and forced a fumble against Arizona State and added a sack and two quarterback hurries against Troy State. One of his hurries against the Trojans caused an interception. He earned his starting spot after a career-high 15-tackle performance at Iowa State, when he also had three tackles for loss.

Kabongo had five tackles in his first career start against McNeese State and had four other games with five or more tackles, with seven at Kansas State and six each vs. Texas and Colorado. Kabongo backed up Jon Clanton in NU’s final two games against Colorado and Ole Miss.

2001 (Sophomore)
Kabongo played in eight games as a reserve defensive tackle in 2001. He recorded nine tackles with five quarterback hurries. He had two tackles for loss, including one-half sack vs. Rice. Kabongo had a season-best three tackles vs. Troy State and had two tackles, vs. Iowa State. He had a season-best two quarterback hurries at Baylor.

2000 (Redshirt Freshman)
As a redshirt freshman, Kabongo earned valuable experience as a backup defensive tackle. He played in seven games and made four tackles, including a tackle for loss vs. Missouri. Kabongo had a season-best two tackles vs. San Jose State and made one tackle in the Alamo Bowl.

A scholarship athlete, Kabongo redshirted in 1999.

Before Nebraska (Vanier Collegiate Prep)
Kabongo came to Nebraska as one of the top recruits in Canada. At defensive end, he had more than 60 tackles and six sacks for Coach Ray Gagnon at Vanier Collegiate, a prep school in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1998. Kabongo played just two years of football at Vanier and participated on an organized youth team one year earlier. Kabongo was a SuperPrep All-American and chose Nebraska after visiting Boston College, Kentucky and Central Florida.

Personal
Watshidimba (pronounced Watch-chee-DIM-bah) "Patrick" Kabongo is the son of Angelique Kajungu, who lives in Montreal. Patrick speaks French as his first language and English as his second. He was born on June 27, 1979, in Kinshasa, Zaire, and moved to Canada when he was four. He later toured the United States as a high school basketball player.

Kabongo wa one of Nebraska's most active volunteers, including Halloween Fun Night, the F Street Recreation Center Holiday Party, I've Got Heart Week, Husker Team Spirit Hospital visits, Western Nebraska Tour of Excellence, Omaha Metro Career Day and First Plymouth Church. He was also active in the FCA and was a two-year member of the Husker Unity Council. Patrick was a two-year member of the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Board as the Multicultural Representative and was selected as a participant for the 2002 NCAA Leadership Conference. Kabongo earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice in August 2002.
