2003 (Senior)
Nose tackle Ryon Bingham was a mainstay on the Husker defensive line for three seasons. The Sandy, Utah, native led Nebraska's interior defensive linemen with 56 total tackles, capped by the best stretch of his career over the season's final seven games when he tallied 45 tackles. He had career highs of 10 tackles each against Texas and Kansas State, including a career-best three tackles for loss at Texas. He missed the Troy State and Missouri games with a knee injury.

For his standout play, Bingham earned second-team All-Big 12 honors from the conference coaches, while the Blackshirt defense ranked among the Big 12 and national leaders in several statistical categories. Bingham was also chosen in the seventh round (204th overall selection) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.

An extremely hard-working player on and off the field, Bingham was a four-time finalist for the Nebraska Lifter of the Year award, while earning second-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2002.

2002 (Junior)
Bingham had been penciled in for significant duty at nose tackle, but his role increased even more when Jason Lohr was lost to a preseason knee injury. Bingham was a more than adequate replacement, and finished the season with 67 total tackles. He recorded nine tackles for loss, totaling 18 yards, including 1.5 sacks for nine yards.

Bingham had five games last season with seven or more tackles, with a career-high 10 stops at Kansas State. He also forced a fumble and had a tackle for loss against the Wildcats. Bingham added nine tackles, including a tackle for loss in the regular-season finale against Colorado and had eight tackles and a pair of TFL at Iowa State. He also had a strong game against No. 7 Texas in Lincoln when he totaled seven tackles, including a seven-yard sack of Longhorn quarterback Chris Simms.

2001 (Sophomore)
Bingham saw significant action in 2001 as part of a four-man rotation at the two defensive tackle positions. He played in all 12 games as Jon Clanton’s backup at nose tackle, and finished the year with 18 tackles, including five for 13 yards lost. Bingham had seven quarterback hurries, and shared a nine-yard sack at Baylor with J.P Wichmann. Bingham had a season-high three tackles against Iowa State and at Colorado. He played in the Rose Bowl, recording two assisted tackles.

2000 (Redshirt Freshman)
Bingham was expected to see action as a redshirt freshman in 2000, but a broken right foot kept him out for the entire season. He was casted in August, then had surgery in September.

Before Nebraska (Alta HS)
Bingham was a standout football player and a two-time Class 5A heavyweight wrestling champion. He played offensive tackle and nose guard for Coach Mitch Lunak at Alta High School in Sandy, Utah. The Salt Lake Tribune Defensive Player of the Year, Bingham earned all-state honors and was the Gatorade Circle of Champions Utah Player of the Year. In 1998, Bingham recorded 87 tackles, 14 sacks, four pass breakups, five fumbles caused and two recoveries. As a junior, he had 50 tackles and 13 sacks, helping his team to a 9-2 record and a state semifinal appearance in Utah’s largest class. As a heavyweight, Bingham went 64-1 with 58 pins en route to state championships in both 1998 and 1999, compiling a 28-0 mark with 25 pins as a senior.

Personal
The son of Jeff and Lora Bingham, Ryon was born on June 6, 1981. Bingham earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice in December 2003, and was one of 19 Huskers to play in the Alamo Bowl win over Michigan with their degree in hand. Ryon's older brother, Josh, played football at Southern Utah.
