2004 (Senior)
Jake Andersen was a fixture at right guard on the Nebraska offensive line over the last two seasons, starting 22 games. He was the lone holdover from the 2003 edition of the NU pipeline to maintain the same position during his final two campaigns.

The Littleton, Colo., native earned his first academic All-Big 12 nomination during his senior season and was named to a pair of Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Rolls as a junior. Hegraduated in December of 2004 with a degree in communication studies.

Andersen was one of the key components in the NU offensive line’s successful transition to the West Coast Offense blocking attack in 2004. He helped the Husker offense set several passing records, while also paving the way for a 1,000-yard rushing season by I-back Cory Ross, the first for an NU I-back since the 2001 season.

2003 (Junior)
Andersen took over the starting duties at right guard after seeing minimal action during his first two seasons. He played in 12 of Nebraska's 13 games with 11 starts. Andersen was healthy only for the first three games before suffering a toe injury against Southern Miss. The injury forced him to miss the Troy State contest the following week, but he returned to the lineup at Missouri and started eight of NU's final nine games.

Andersen was a key part of a Nebraska offensive line that paved the way for seven 250-yard rushing efforts in 2003, including a season-high 337 rushing yards against Penn State. The Huskers' power attack against the Nittany Lions allowed the NU offense to control the ball for more than 39 minutes of action. The Huskers also topped 300 yards on the ground against Texas A&M (333). On the season, Nebraska finished seventh nationally and second in the Big 12 in rushing offense at 236.2 yards per game. The Huskers also controlled the clock for nearly 32 minutes per game.

2002 (Sophomore)
Andersen played in six games as a reserve offensive guard. His most extensive action came in the 2002 Independence Bowl after starter Mike Erickson left early in the second half with an injury. Andersen had seven pancakes on the year, including a season-high three against both Utah State and Kansas.

2001 (Redshirt Freshman)
Andersen saw action in one game (Rice) and did not have any pancakes.

2000 (Redshirt)
A scholarship athlete, Andersen redshirted his first year at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Mullen HS)
Andersen earned PrepStar All-America honors, playing guard and center for Coach Mick McCall. Andersen was a team captain and earned all-state honors from the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News, helping Mullen to a league championship and the state quarterfinals as a senior.

A four-year letterwinner, Andersen averaged 10 pancakes per game in 1999 and helped Mullen to a Class 5A (Colorado’s largest class) state title in 1998, playing with former Husker wide receiver Tim Liley. Andersen holds many of Mullen’s school records in the weight room. In addition to football, Andersen was a four-year track letterman and competed in both the shot put and discus, helping Mullen to three straight state titles (1997, 1998, 1999). He only visited Nebraska, and picked NU over Colorado, Colorado State and Southern California.

Personal
The son of Keith and Debbie Andersen, Jacob (Jake) was born Aug. 10, 1982, in Denver, Colo. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in December of 2004, after majoring in communication studies at Nebraska. He was a second-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2004, and a two-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
