2005 Outlook
Linebacker Adam Furtwengler joined the Nebraska program last fall after going through a walk-on tryout. Furtwengler redshirted in his first year in the program and this fall will provide depth at the Sam linebacker position behind junior Stewart Bradley and senior Adam Ickes. Furtwengler carries a 3.158 grade-point average in pre-medicine and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll twice.

Furtwengler earned a spot on the roster through a walk-on tryout and redshirted in his first season.

Before Nebraska (W.B. Ray HS)
Furtwengler played both linebacker and fullback at W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Furtwengler was an academic all-state selection and was also named the All-South Texas Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore, in addition to All-District, All-Bay Area and All-Metro honors during his sophomore and senior seasons. Furtwengler lettered three years each in football, basketball and track.

Personal
Furtwengler is the son of Dell Furtwengler and Louanne Tilton, and was born on Sept. 18, 1985. Adam is majoring in pre-medicine and has twice been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Furtwengler has volunteered his time with local school and hospital visits and with the Chalk Talk Youth Football Program.
