    (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
  • Four-Time Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll
    (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006)

2007 Outlook
Senior Kevin Luhrs (pronounced lures) hopes to return to full health this fall and make an impact on a re-tooled Nebraska defensive line. Luhrs provided outstanding depth for the Huskers at defensive end in 2005, but injuries kept him on the sidelines throughout the 2006 campaign. An Omaha native, Luhrs is expected to line up inside this fall, where Nebraska will look to replace Barry Cryer and Ola Dagunduro. The 6-1, 270-pounder could also see action at end.

Luhrs has distinguished himself in the classroom at Nebraska, earning Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection eight times. He carries a 3.565 cumulative grade-point average in dietetics and is among a group of 23 Husker seniors scheduled to graduate this December.

2006 (Junior)
Luhrs did not see game action while battling injuries throughout the year.

2005 (Sophomore)
Luhrs was a reserve behind Adam Carriker at base end and played against Iowa State, Texas Tech and Kansas. Luhrs had an assisted tackle against the Cyclones.

2004 (Redshirt Freshman)
Luhrs was a reserve at defensive end, but did not see game action.

2003 (Redshirt)
A walk-on, Luhrs redshirted in his first season with the Huskers.

Before Nebraska (Creighton Prep HS)
Luhrs was part of a strong football tradition at Omaha Creighton Prep High School. He was a member of four state qualifying teams, including the 2000 state runner-up squad. Luhrs played five positions for Coach Tom Jaworski, and earned all-state and All-Metro honors from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star, and was voted Metro Coaches Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Luhrs’ final high school game was at Memorial Stadium, when he served as the team captain for the North squad at the 2003 Shrine Bowl. He was also a team captain for the Bluejays in 2002, and went on to receive the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete Award and Mid-City Bank Award. He was named academic all-state and an academic All-Metro team captain as a senior. Luhrs is one of three current Huskers out of Creighton Prep, joining Dan Glassman and Zach Potter.

Personal
The son of Robert and Susan Luhrs, Kevin was born on Sept. 29, 1984. He has been on the Big 12 honor roll each of his eight semesters. Luhrs has volunteered his time with hospital visits in the Lincoln and Omaha area and at Legacy Retirement Center.
