Honors and Awards

  • Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll (2008)

2009 Outlook
Tight end Mychael McClure has made great strides in his one year in the Nebraska program and this fall he will look to translate that progress into playing time. The 6-5, 235-pound McClure has added more than 25 pounds of muscle since his arrival last summer and will bid for playing time at one of the deepest and most talented positions on the Nebraska offense.

2008 (Redshirt)
A walk-on, McClure sat out his first season and was impressive in his scout team work.

Before Nebraska (Wisner-Pilger HS)
McClure played both wide receiver and linebacker at Wisner-Pilger High School, and earned Class C-1 first-team all-state honors from both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

He also starred in basketball, earning Class C-1 all-state honors, while leading his team to the state tournament. McClure finished his senior season at the state track and field meet with a seventh-place finish in the long jump and eighth-place finish in the triple jump.

Personal
Mychael is the son of Kevin and Holly McClure and was born on Feb. 9, 1990. He is majoring in fisheries and wildlife and was named to the 2008 Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll. He has volunteered time with the Special Olympics. Mychael's older brother, Kellen, is a member of the Husker track and field team.
