2005 Outlook
Junior Grant Mulkey became a key receiver last season in Nebraska's West Coast Offense and should be a major part of the receiving corps again in 2005. Mulkey finished last season as Nebraska's fourth-leading receiver with 19 receptions. He will enter fall camp as a contender for playing time at the "Z" receiver spot and is also a leading contender for significant action as the Huskers' No. 1 "E" or third receiver. The 5-11, 180-pound Mulkey showed his toughness on several occasions last season, going across the middle to make catches in traffic.

A native of Arlington, Texas, Mulkey played in four games as a redshirt freshman in 2003, but did not have a catch. He redshirted in 2002.

2004 (Sophomore)
Mulkey played in all 11 games and was in the starting 11 when Nebraska opened in three-receiver sets against Western Illinois and Iowa State. He was fourth on the team with 19 receptions for 244 yards, a total that was also fourth on the team.

Mulkey opened the year with his first two career catches against Western Illinois, then had a season-high four catches for 43 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown against Southern Miss. Mulkey grabbed his second touchdown of the year on a 38-yard catch and run against Baylor, on a day when he had a career-best 75 receiving yards on three receptions.His 38-yard reception was the play that allowed Nebraska to surpass 300 yards passing for the first time in school history. Mulkey tied his season-high with four catches for 52 yards in the season finale with Colorado.

2003 (Redshirt Freshman)
Mulkey played in four games as a reserve wideout, but did not have a reception. He saw action against Southern Miss, Troy State, Texas A&M and Iowa State.

2002 (Redshirt)
A walk-on athlete, Mulkey redshirted his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Arlington HS)
Mulkey came to Nebraska from Arlington (Texas) High School, where he was a standout for Coach Mickey Finley, the father of former Husker Clint Finley. Mulkey saw most of his action as a free safety on defense, but also played receiver. He had more than 50 tackles each of his three seasons, including 93 as a junior and 88 as a senior. Mulkey also intercepted five passes and totaled 300 receiving yards as a senior. He earned first-team all-district honors each of his last two seasons, and was a first-team all-area and second-team Class 5A all-state pick as a senior. Mulkey also played baseball as a senior and batted .434 to earn all-district honors at third base.

Personal
The son of Ralph and Jana Mulkey, Grant was born on April 19, 1984. He is majoring in business administration. Grant has volunteered his time with the Special Olympics, the Behavioral Skills Program, School is Cool Week and as part of local hospital visits by the Huskers.
