2007 (Senior)
Tight end Josh Mueller played a prominent role on the Husker offense each of the past four seasons. The 6-5, 265-pound Mueller earned four letters, while being in Nebraska’s regular tight end rotation since 2004. Mueller provided Nebraska with a large receiving target and solid blocking at the line.

Mueller appeared in 44 games during his Husker career, including five starts and made six career receptions. He also played a role on the NU special teams as a blocker on kicking attempts and on the kickoff return unit.

Mueller was one of four tight ends to see significant action in 2007, and battled injuries to play in nine games, but he did not have a reception.

A seven-time Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll pick, Mueller was a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2007, and a second-team honoree in 2006. A business administration major, Mueller was one of 20 Huskers who graduated in December of 2007.

2006 (Junior)
Mueller appeared in all 14 games and finished the season with five catches for 26 yards, including touchdowns against Louisiana Tech and Kansas State. He also served on Nebraska’s PAT and field goal units for the third straight season. Mueller had two catches for 10 yards against Louisiana Tech, including a six-yard TD catch from Zac Taylor in a game when all four NU tight ends had a touchdown. He added a catch against Troy, then had a three-yard touchdown catch to give Nebraska a 14-0 lead at Kansas State. Mueller had a five-yard reception against Colorado.

2005 (Sophomore)
Mueller saw action in all 12 games, including starts against Iowa State, Missouri and Kansas State. Mueller, Phillips and redshirt freshman Clayton Sievers were asked to fill the void at tight end with Matt Herian out for the entire 2005 season with a leg injury.

Mueller made his first career catch, an 18-yard reception, against Kansas State. In addition to his work at tight end, Mueller contributed as a member of the field goal and PAT teams, as well as being a reserve on the kickoff return team.

2004 (Redshirt Freshman)
Mueller played in nine games, including duty as a blocker on NU's PAT and field goal units. His playing time increased after starting tight end Herian was sidelined.

2003 (Redshirt)
Mueller redshirted in his first year at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Lakeview HS)
Mueller was one of the nation’s premier tight end prospects despite missing most of his senior year at Columbus Lakeview with shoulder and knee injuries. After his injuries, Mueller moved to wide receiver for the remainder of the 2002 season and finished the year with 10 receptions. As a junior, he played running back for Lakeview and finished the season with 851 yards and caught four passes on his way to honorable-mention all-state honors. He started at tight end for the Vikings as a sophomore and lettered for four years. Mueller was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but did not participate because of injury.

Mueller was a multi-sport athlete at Lakeview, lettering three seasons in basketball, including his sophomore season when Lakeview won the Class C-1 state title. He helped the Vikings to a runner-up finish as a junior in 2002, but did not play basketball as a senior because of shoulder surgery. Mueller also earned two letters in track, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal
Mueller was born on Aug. 28, 1984, and is the son of Con and Marla (Lichty) Mueller. A business administration major, Mueller earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2007. He earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2007, after claiming second-team accolades in 2006. He was also a seven-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Both of Josh's parents are UNL graduates, and his mother played volleyball, earning three letters from 1978 to 1980. Mueller’s younger sister, Janae, is a member of the Husker track team. Mueller has volunteered his time during American Education Week, as a speaker for Pop Warner Football and with local hospital visits.
