2005 (Senior)
Defensive end Wali (Wall-EE) Muhammad was a key part of Nebraska’s defensive end rotation each of his final two seasons as a Husker. In his senior season, Muhammad’s pass-rushing abilities helped the Huskers lead the nation in sacks with 50, and tackles for loss with 124.

Muhammad played in all 11 regular-season games as a senior, serving as the top backup to Jay Moore at the open end position. Muhammad finished 2005 with four sacks and eight tackles for loss, while adding a pair of pass breakups and 10 quarterback hurries for the Big Red. Muhammad’s 10 hurries tied for third on the team, while his four sacks were tied for fifth among Husker defenders.

Muhammad began the season in strong fashion, tying his career high of four tackles in each of the Huskers’ first two games. He posted a combined six tackles for loss and three sacks in the first three games. Muhammad had a career-high three tackles for loss against Wake Forest, including a 14-yard sack. A week later against Pittsbrugh, Muhammad tallied three tackles including a career-high two sacks for 13 yards in losses. He finished the season with 20 tackles, including 13 solo stops.

2004 (Junior)
Muhammad was a key part of Nebraska's end rotation, and played in all 11 games. Among his 18 tackles, Muhammad had three sacks for 15 yards and eight tackles for loss totaling 25 yards. He led the team with 16 quarterback hurries and also forced two fumbles, broke up three passes and had an interception at Pittsburgh.

Muhammad opened the year with a season-high four tackles, including a sack against Western Illinois. He added his second sack of the season against Southern Miss in week two. His top game came on the road against Pittsburgh, when Muhammad made three tackles and helped NU jump to an early lead, with his pressure on the quarterback and a big play in pass coverage. Muhammad intercepted a Tyler Palko pass and returned it four yards to the Panther 2. NU scored a touchdown and grabbed a 10-0 lead after the turnover. He also had a season-high five quarterback hurries in the game. Muhammad added three more games with three tackles (Baylor, Missouri, Colorado) and had three QB pressures against Kansas, Baylor and Missouri.

2003 (Sophomore)
Muhammad did not play because of injury in his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Coffeyville CC/Bloomfield HS)
One of three junior college recruits in NU's 2003 class, Muhammad came to Nebraska from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, where he was a first-team All-Jayhawk Conference player in 2002. Coffeyville finished the year with a 9-3 record under Coach Jeff Leiker. Muhammad was a first-team junior college All-America pick by Gridwire and was an honorable-mention All-America pick by the National Junior College Athletic Association. He had 118 tackles with 37 of those for losses, and was in on a school-record 22 sacks in 2002 and forced two fumbles. At Bloomfield High School, Muhammad was a second-team all-state selection as a senior with 79 tackles and 13 tackles for loss. Bloomfield finished as the top team in the county in Muhammad’s senior season. He was a two-time all-area pick and a three-year starter at outside linebacker.

Muhammad picked the Huskers over Indiana, Kansas and Colorado State. Coffeyville CC is the same school that sent 1983 Heisman winner Mike Rozier to Nebraska in 1981, and produced current NU teammate Dontrell Moore.

Personal
The son of Wali Muhammad Sr. and Marilyn Tynes, Wali was born on April 17, 1983. His older brother, Robert Tynes, played football at Arizona State in 1997.
