  • Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll (2006)

2007 Outlook
Sophomore cornerback Ryan Ford looks to return to the field this fall after suffering an ACL injury during spring practice. Ford was one of two Husker corners to suffer a knee injury during spring ball, joining projected starter Zackary Bowman. Ford did not see game action last fall, but provided the Huskers with depth in the secondary and on special teams. A native of Winfield, Ala., Ford originally earned a spot on the team through the Huskers’ walk-on tryouts in the spring of 2006.

2006 (Freshman)
Ford did not see game action, but was a valuable performer on the scout team, while adding depth in a thin Husker secondary.

Before Nebraska (Winfield HS)
Ford played receiver and cornerback, and excelled on special teams at Winfield High. A four-year starter, Ford helped his team to four straight state playoff appearances. He led his team in interceptions as a senior and ranked fourth in tackles, helping Winfield to a Class 3A state runner-up finish. A three-time all-county pick, Ford was chosen as a member of the West Alabama All-Star team as a senior. Ford also excelled in track, earning conference MVP honors as a junior and senior. He qualified for the state meet in four events three straight years.

Personal
Ryan is the son of Harold and Katie Ford, and was born on Dec. 1, 1986. He is majoring in management and was a 2006 Big 12 Spring Academic Honor Roll selection. He has volunteered his time with NU’s team hospital visits.
