Wes Woodward served as a reserve right cornerback behind DeJuan Groce and Erwin Swiney.  A four-year letterman, Woodward was a valuable member of NU's special teams.  An excellent student as well, Woodward was a six-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned academic All-Big 12 honors four times, including first-team honors before graduating in December 2001.  Woodward played five games in 2001, recording three tackles (two solo) and one interception.  He had a season-best two tackles vs. Rice and notched an interception and an assisted tackle at Baylor.

In 2000, Woodward played in every game as a reserve rover and a member of NU's kickoff coverage unit.  He had five tackles (two solo), including one tackle for one-yard lost vs. Baylor and one pass breakup at Texas Tech.  He had one tackle in five games, including a solo stop vs. San Jose State and Missouri.  He played in the Alamo Bowl vs. Northwestern, but did not have a tackle.  In 1999, Woodward played seven games as a backup rover.  A valuable special teams member, he had two assisted tackles against Iowa State.  He did not see action in the bowl game.

In 1998, Woodward saw action in every game except Colorado, after suffering a hip pointer in the Kansas State game.  Woodward had four tackles in the regular season and one solo tackle in the Holiday Bowl vs. Arizona.  A walk-on athlete, Woodward redshirted in 1997.
