  • Selected in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft by Philadelphia
  • Eighth on Nebraska's All-Time Rushing List (2,522 Yards)
  • 2000 Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 (AP)
  • 2000 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Nominee (vs. Texas Tech, Baylor)

Selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the NFL Draft (121st overall pick), Correll Buckhalter closed the books in 2000 on one of the most successful rushing careers in Nebraska history.  Although he only started 10 games in four season at Nebraska, the senior I-back from Collins, Miss., climbed to No. 8 on the Husker's all-time rushing list with 2,522 career yards.

With 750 yards on just 106 carries in 2000, Buckhalter led the Huskers with 7.1 yards per carry to raise his career average to 6.1 yards per carry.  He also earned honorable-mention All-Big 12 Conference honors from the Associated Press.  He added 11 career 100-yard rushing performances, including four in 2000.  All four of his 100-yard efforts came in games in which starting I-back Dan Alexander also rushed for 100 or more yards.  The fourth time, quarterback Eric Crouch also crossed the century mark, as the trio became just the second group of backs in Husker history to each rush for 100 yards in the same game.  Buckhalter recorded eight multiple rushing touchdown games, and his 28 career touchdowns (27 rushing, one receiving) tied him with Scott Frost for 20th on the Nebraska all-time scoring list with 168 points.

Buckhalter was also a dangerous receiving threat out of the backfield with 24 career receptions for 205 yards and one touchdown.  He also returned one kickoff for 19 yards at Kansas State in 2000 to finish his career with 2,765 all-purpose yards, just missing a spot on NU's all-time top 10 list.  He led Nebraska in rushing in 1998 with 799 yards.
