2004 (Junior)
Garth Glissman was one of several quarterbacks to compete for playing time in the first year of Nebraska’s West Coast Offense in 2004. While he did not appear in a game during his junior season, he did provide the Huskers with a valuable commodity as a scout-team quarterback due to his strong arm. Glissman decided to forgo his final season of eligibility in 2005 after graduating early.

He served as NU’s No. 3 quarterback behind Jammal Lord and Joe Dailey as a sophomore in 2003 and played in wins over Troy State and Texas A&M. Glissman did not see action in 2002, his first season with the football team. He previously came to Nebraska as a recruit for the Husker basketball team in 2001 before switching his focus to football.

Glissman was one of Nebraska’s most distinguished players off the field. The Lincoln native possessed a near-perfect cumulative grade-point average in political science and history and earned a total of eight Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll appearances. He also was active in the community. Glissman’s outreach work earned him a three-year spot on the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team.

2003 (Sophomore)
Glissman was the No. 3 quarterback behind Jammal Lord and Joe Dailey and played in wins over Troy State and Texas A&M, but did not have any statistics.

2002 (Redshirt Freshman)
Glissman redshirted in his first season with the football program.

2001 (Freshman-Basketball)
Glissman redshirted as a member of Nebraska's basketball team.

Before Nebraska (New Hampton Prep/Waverly HS)
Glissman was a three-sport standout at Waverly High School, then spent one year at New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire before enrolling at Nebraska. At Waverly, Glissman played quarterback for Head Coach John Farrand and helped the Vikings to a 6-4 record and state playoff appearance as a senior. He also lettered three times in basketball and four times in track at Waverly. In basketball he averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, and on the track he placed third in the state in the triple jump.

Glissman played quarterback at New Hampton Prep in the fall of 2000, completing 60 percent of his passes for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns, against just four interceptions. On the basketball court, he was the starting forward on the 2001 team that included eight Division I recruits. Glissman was named New Hampton's athlete of the year in 2001, and earned all-conference honors in both football and basketball.

Personal
Glissman was born on March 13, 1982, and is the son of Blayne and Susan Glissman. He earned his bachelor's degree in December of 2004 with a double major in political science and history. He carried a GPA above 3.90 through his college career. He was an eight-time member of  the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and a three-time selection to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team. Glissman volunteered his time with School is Cool Week, the Spring Break Tour of Excellence, the UNL Shadowing Program, the Waverly DARE program and the Behavioral Skills Program.
