2007 (Senior)
Ben Eisenhart was a special teams standout throughout his Nebraska career, then played a key role in the Husker secondary during the 2007 campaign. Eisenhart played in 41 games during his Nebraska career, including all 38 games over the past three seasons.

In 2007, Eisenhart was a regular in the Husker secondary, including making his first career start at safety on Senior Day against Kansas State. Eisenhart finished the season with 41 tackles, including 23 solo stops. He was one of Nebraska’s top tacklers late in the season, racking up 25 tackles in the final four games of the year, including a career-high nine stops at Kansas. Eisenhart also continued as one of Nebraska’s top special teams performers.

At the conclusion of the season, Eisenhart earned the 2007 Cletus Fischer Native Son Award, presented annually to the NU senior who best exemplifies the qualities of of a good work ethic, competitiveness, leadership, forthrightness, sense of humor, pride, loyalty and love of Nebraska.

Originally a walk-on, Eisenhart was awarded a scholarship at the start of 2006 fall camp. He went on to play in all 14 games, and made 13 tackles, including nine solo stops, the most among Huskers with the majority of their playing time on special teams. Eisenhart broke through as a valuable special teams performer in 2005, when he played in all 12 games and made 10 tackles. He played sparingly as a reserve in 2004 and made one tackle, after redshirting in 2003.

Eisenhart graduated in December of 2007 and was a first-team academic All-Big 12 pick during his senior year. He also earned Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selections four times during his career.

2006 (Junior)
In addition to serving as a backup safety, Eisenhart was a member of Nebraska’s punt return, kickoff return and kickoff coverage units and played in every game. He helped the Huskers rank among the top teams in the Big 12 in covering kickoffs. Eisenhart had a combined six tackles in the first two games, including a career-best four tackles, with two tackles for loss, against Nicholls State. He added two tackles against Oklahoma State and finished the year with 13 total tackles, including nine solos.

2005 (Sophomore)
Eisenhart played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams. He finished the season with 12 tackles, including eight solo stops, and had at least one tackle in eight of 12 games, with a season-high two tackles against Wake Forest and Iowa State. He helped Nebraska rank among the nation’s best in kickoff coverage.

2004 (Redshirt Freshman)
Eisenhart played in three games in 2004, appearing in NU victories against Western Illinois, Baylor and Missouri. He had an assisted tackle against Baylor.

2003 (Redshirt)
A walk-on athlete, Eisenhart redshirted in his first season in Lincoln.

Before Nebraska (Culbertson HS)
Eisenhart was a two-time all-state selection at Culbertson High School, which played eight-man football. The Bears were a Class D-2 school during Eisenhart’s junior and senior seasons, the smallest class in Nebraska. Eisenhart accumulated stellar numbers on both sides of the ball as a running back and a linebacker.

Eisenhart set the state playoffs all-class record with a staggering 445 yards rushing against Banner County in 2002, and tied the D-2 playoff record with seven rushing touchdowns in the game. He finished his senior year with 2,336 rushing yards in addition to 22 career interceptions on defense. Eisenhart showed his all-around athletic ability by lettering four times in basketball and four times in track and field. He closed his prep career by capturing his third consecutive Class D state long jump title. Eisenhart twice earned the all-class gold medal for the top leap at the state meet.

Personal
Eisenhart is the son of Rusty and Annette Eisenhart, and was born on March 10, 1984. A history major, Eisenhart was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll four times and was a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection as a senior in 2007. He was a volunteer speaker during School is Cool Week and assisted with Nebraska’s hospital visits.
