2005 Outlook
Mike Sampogna is in his second season at Nebraska after playing high school football at Mt. Carmel High in Chicago. Sampogna redshirted last season and was a scout team I-back and enters fall practice listed as a reserve at that position. He possesses excellent speed and could also contribute on special teams.

2004 (Redshirt)
A walk-on, Sampogna redshirted and was a member of the scout team.

Before Nebraska (Mt. Carmel HS)
A two-sport standout at Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago, Sampogna earned two letters in football and four letters as a sprinter in track. Sampogna helped Mt. Carmel to the Chicago Prep Bowl title in 2001, and the Class 6A state championship in 2002 under Coach Frank Lenti. Sampogna also excelled on the track, earning sprinter-of-the-year honors in 2001. Sampogna was injured much of his senior season. He was an honor roll student.

Personal
The son of George Sampogna and Dana Catalano, Mike was born April 14, 1986 in Elmhurst, Ill. He has not declared a major. Sampogna has volunteered his time with the Lincoln Action Program and in local hospital visits.
