2003 (Senior)
Center Josh Sewell led the Nebraska offensive line throughout 2003, starting all 13 games and helping the Huskers average 235.6 rushing yards per game. Sewell earned a spot on the Rimington Trophy watch list and claimed honorable-mention All-big 12 honors from the league's coaches.

Sewell's performance on the field earned him selection in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos with the 190th overall selection.

Sewell was also solid in the classroom and in the community, earning second-team academic All-Big 12 honors. He also earned the first Jake Young Memorial Scholarship presented at the Utah State game, in honor of the former Husker All-American lineman who was killed in the fall of 2002. Sewell was also a finalist for NU's Lifter-of-the-Year award.

2002 (Junior)
Sewell played in five games as a reserve behind John Garrison at center. He had 11 pancake blocks, including four each against Arizona State and Utah State.

2001 (Transfer)
Sewell enrolled at Nebraska in January of 2001 after transferring from Indiana State. He sat out the season under NCAA transfer rules.

Before Nebraska (Indiana State University/Southeast HS)
Sewell saw significant action as a swing offensive guard at Indiana State in 2000, but left the Sycamore program for Nebraska following the season. He redshirted at Indiana State in 1999. Sewell played offensive guard and was a key member of a dominant offensive line that helped Lincoln Southeast High School to back-to-back state titles in 1997 and 1998. He played nose tackle on defense. Sewell earned all-city and Class A all-state honors, while being a second-team super-state pick by the Lincoln Journal Star. He was also the Class A heavyweight powerlifting champion. He had numerous Division I-AA and Division II offers out of high school and was originally recruited to Nebraska as a walk-on.

Personal
Josh was born on July 26, 1981, and is the son of Edward and Lu Ann Sewell. He was named to the 2003 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team for his work in the community, which included serving as a speaker during American Education Week and at School is Cool, volunteering his time with the UNL Shadowing Program and Team Spirit hospital visits and being a member of the 2003 Nebraska Football Unity Council. Sewell earned his bachelor's degree in finance in May of 2004.
