  • 2001 Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll

Nate Kolterman teamed with Scott Koethe to back up Dan Vili Waldrop at right tackle in 2002. Kolterman also served as the right tackle for the Husker PAT and field goal units. In three years of limited action due to knee injuries, Kolterman has 12 career pancakes. He missed all of spring drills after having his right knee scoped the Rose Bowl.

2002: Kolterman appeared in all 14 games as a senior in 2002 and notched 12 pancakes, including a season-best five knock-down blocks in a win over Troy State.

2001: Kolterman played in nine games, all except the first two games and at Missouri. He totaled five pancakes, including two each vs. Iowa State and Baylor. Kolterman saw action in the 2002 Rose Bowl as a member of the PAT unit.

2000: Kolterman had his left knee scoped in January of 2000 and had his right knee scoped after spring ball in 2000, but was near 100 percent by fall. Playing in three regular-season games (San Jose State, Baylor and Kansas), plus the Alamo Bowl, Kolterman had seven pancakes, including a career-best six vs. Baylor.

1999: Kolterman tore his left ACL in April of 1999 and had subsequent surgery. Recovering from injury, he played in one game.

1998: A scholarship athlete, Kolterman redshirted in 1998.

At Seward HS: Kolterman played on Seward High School's offensive and defensive lines, earning first-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald and first-team super-state honors from the Lincoln Journal Star on offense in 1997. He also earned All-America honors from the National Recruiting Advisor and USA Today Honorable-Mention honors. Kolterman sat out the first three games in 1997 with a ruptured appendix, but still totaled 77 tackles. He earned four letters in track, placing seventh in Class B in the discus as a senior and lettered twice in wrestling. Kolterman was also recruited by Kansas State, Colorado, Michigan, Texas A&M, Wyoming, Colorado State and Fresno State.

Personal: The son of Clark and Linda Kolterman, Nate was born on Sept. 15, 1979. Kolterman is majoring in animal science and is on track to graduate in December 2002. He was a Teammates volunteer and is a member of the 2002 Nebraska Football Unity Council.
