The Nebraska cross country team is prepared to hit the course at the 2016 Big Ten Championships on Sunday at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis. The women's race is set to start at 10 a.m. and the men's race will begin at 11 a.m.
The Husker men will look to have a strong showing at the conference meet behind the senior leadership of Jacob Olson and Patrick Letz, who have consistently finished among the top runners on the team this season. Sophomore Wyatt McGuire will also look to make his presence felt after being the first Husker to cross the line at the Pre-National Invitational with a time of 25:13.8. Junior Austin Post is another runner to keep an eye on after ranking near the top of the men's team all season long.
The women's squad looks to rally behind its lead runner Katrina Santiago, the junior who has been the first Husker to cross the line at every meet this season. Accompanying her will be key runners Anna Peer and Bonnie Smith, two juniors who have seen their names in headlines in the past and will look to continue their trend of coming in toward top of the team at each meet. Junior Nicole Colonna has been another breakout leader for the Big Red, placing in the top 5 for the women's squad at every meet this season. Overall, the group has a plethora of youth that is hungry to make an impact at their first Big Ten Championship meet.
The Big Ten Championships will be televised on BTN at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Be sure to tune in to support the Huskers as they compete at their first postseason race.
