2008 (Junior)

Due to offseason ankle surgery, team co-captain Brian Parr was unable to compete in 2008. Parr will return in 2009 with one year of eligibility.

2007 (Redshirt)

Parr redshirted the 2007 cross country season due to injuries in his legs and ankles.

Parr was able to compete for the track and field team during the outdoor season after missing the entire indoor season.

He ran his personal-best time of 8:56.86 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Drake Relays to finish third. Parr finished seventh in the steeplechase at the Big 12 Championships and finished eighth at the NCAA Midwest Regional after qualifying for the third straight year.

2006 (Sophomore)

Parr was the top Husker finisher in five of the six meets he competed in 2006. He made dramatic improvement on the biggest stage at the NCAA Midwest Regional by placing 38th overall after finishing 82nd in 2005. Parr was held out of the Creighton/UNO Classic to open the season, but returned strong at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational to place eighth. It marked the only time in 2006 that Parr was not the Huskers’ top finisher, as Peter van der Westhuizen finished fourth in Nebraska’s team championship effort.

In one of the most highly contested meets of the season at the Chile Pepper Festival, Parr delivered an impressive 10K time of 30:24.5 to finish 41st and break his previous best by one minute and 45 seconds. He crossed the line as the 46th runner to lead the Huskers at the Big 12 Championships.

An NCAA Midwest Regional qualifier during the outdoor season, Parr had a strong year in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His career-best time of 8:58.30 ranked eighth in the region during the regular season before finishing 10th at the Midwest Regional meet to end the year.

2005 (Freshman)

Parr was one of Nebraska’s top four runners in every race as a freshman, and finished as one of NU’s top two competitors four times. He closed the year as Nebraska’s top finisher in 82nd place at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, after finishing 66th in a career-best 8K time of 26:03 as NU’s second runner at the Big 12 Championships.

Parr opened his career by finishing second (28:11.3) at the Creighton/UNO Classic. Parr was also NU’s second finisher at the Roy Griak Invitational.

Parr redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor track seasons but ran unattached in several meets. Indoors, Parr ran then-personal bests of 4:20.31 in the mile at the Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular and 8:36.66 in the 3,000 meters at the Frank Sevigne Invitational. He ran in only two races outdoors, as he recorded personal bests in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:21.81) and 1,500-meter run (3:51.84).

High School (Fremont)

Parr produced a spectacular prep career at Fremont High School under Coach Sean McMahon. The 2004 Nebraska Class A state cross country champion, Parr won the all-class gold to power the Tigers to the Class A state title his senior year.

Fremont also captured the state championship during Parr’s sophomore year in 2002, when he placed third individually. As a junior, Parr finished fifth at the state meet.

Parr led Fremont to the 2005 Class A state track and field title by winning the 3,200 meters (9:33.30). He was also the runner-up in the 1,600 (4:21.82) and anchored the second-place 4x800-meter relay to the third-fastest time in state history (7:45.65).
