2009 (Senior)

Bryce Somer (pronounced Summer) capped his Husker career with his fourth straight appearance at the Big 12 Championships, where he placed 89th with a time of 27:49.1 on the 8K course. Overall, the men’s squad finished seventh for the second straight year, which gave them back-to-back top-10 finishes for the first time since the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Somer opened the year with a fourth-place showing at the Creighton/UNO Classic.

2008 (Junior)

Somer continued to make improvements during his junior season. He started the year with an eighth-place finish at the Creighton/UNO Classic, four spots higher than his 12th-place showing in 2007. Somer then moved up 12 spots at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational, bettering his 34th-place finish from a year before with a 22nd-place time of 26:16.3. In the postseason, Somer improved 18 places at the Big 12 Championships with a 67th-place time of 26:37.3. He ended the year at the NCAA Midwest Regional with a 98th-place time of 33:41.9, 28 places higher than he finished in 2007.

2007 (Sophomore)

Somer began the year on the right foot by finishing 12th at the Creighton/UNO Classic with a time of 29:20, 31 seconds faster than he ran the previous year. Somer made drastic improvements at both the Woody Greeno and Roy Griak meets, finishing 34th and 128th, respectively, after finishing 114th and 225th in 2006.  He finished 85th at the Big 12 Conference meet with a time of 27:28.5 on the 8K course. He competed in his first NCAA Regional in 2007, finishing 126th in the 10K race with a time of 34:06.

2006 (Freshman)

In his first season with the Huskers, Somer finished in Nebraska’s top seven in three of the six meets he competed. In his home state at the South Dakota State Classic, Somer finished 46th overall in 27:15.50, a large improvement from his season-opening 8K time of 29:51 at the Creighton/UNO Classic. His best finish among NU runners came at the Big 12 Championships when he was sixth on the team and 102nd overall.

High School (Yankton)

Somer qualified for the South Dakota Class AA State Cross Country Championships his last three years, with his best performance being a sixth-place finish as a senior.

At the Nike Team National, an invitational cross country team race for the top 20 high school teams in the nation, the Yankton team ran as the Yankton 3-D Running Cross Country Club and finished 18th. Somer was the third runner on the team and finished in 94th place in extremely muddy conditions.
