2008 (Senior)

After redshirting in 2007 due to injury, Betsy Miller returned to co-captain the team in 2008 and compete at the NCAA Championships.

Miller opened the year with a fourth-place finish at the Creighton/UNO Classic, running a time of 15:02. Following a 39th-place showing at the BYU Invitational, Miller contributed to the team’s fourth straight team title at the Woody Greeno-Nebraska Invitational with a 20th-place finish (23:12.3).

In the postseason, Miller finished 65th and 73rd, respectively, at the Big 12 and NCAA Midwest Regional Championships to help the women’s team finish third overall at both meets, with the team earning an at-large big to the NCAA Championships with its finish at the regional meet. At the first national meet, Miller was the 239th runner to cross the finish line, running a time of 22:51.0. The squad finished 25th at the national meet, its top finish since 1999.

2007 (Senior)

Miller redshirted during the 2007 season because of injury. By redshirting, Miller now matches up with her track eligibility, as she competed as a junior during the 2008 outdoor track and field season. An outstanding student, Miller is a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection. She served at the Student Athlete Advisory Committee President during the 2007-08 academic year.

2006 (Junior)

Miller fulfilled her role as a team captain during her junior season, finishing as the Huskers’ third runner or higher in four of the eight meets while helping Nebraska to a very successful season.

Miller ended the season with a career-best 31st-place finish at the Big 12 Championships, seven spots higher than in 2005, en route to a third-place team finish. Miller also improved her standing at the regional level, placing 48th overall at the NCAA Midwest Regional after finishing 63rd as a sophomore.

In the first meet of the year at the Creighton/UNO Classic, Miller was the overall runner-up behind teammate Ari Goldstein. It was a career-high finish, starting a stretch that saw Miller finish in the Huskers’ top three in four of the first five meets.

Part of Nebraska’s “Tour of Excellence,” Miller’s off-the-course contributions continued in 2006-07 when she was recognized by the conference and named to the Big 12 Fall Good Works Team.

2005 (Sophomore)

Miller competed in every meet as a sophomore, but saved her best performance for last when she ran a season-best 6K time (22:42) at the Big 12 Championships. Her performance placed her 38th overall, 54 spots higher than her 2004 finish at the conference meet.

Miller’s run at the Big 12 Championships helped fuel Nebraska’s fifth-place team finish. She added a 63rd-place showing at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

She opened the season with a career-best 13th-place finish at the Creighton/Nebraska-Omaha Classic and then added a career-best 5K time of 19:25 at the South Dakota State Invitational.

In addition to her running successes, Miller posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages in both the fall and spring semesters.

2004 (Freshman)

Although she missed nearly a month of competition during the middle of the season, Miller returned in time to run in the Big 12 Championships.

High School (Lodgepole)

Miller registered a fourth-place finish in the 2004 Class D 1,600-meter run as a senior under the direction of Coach Tom Weber. At the 2003 state track meet, she finished third in the 800 meters and fourth as a freshman in 2001.

As a sophomore in 2002, Miller was a member of the Lodgepole 4x800-meter relay team that produced a fourth-place finish. She had track bests of 2:21.9 in the 800 meters, 5:02.71 over 1,500 meters and 5:29.77 in the 1,600-meter run.

A multi-sport athlete for the Panthers, Miller competed in track, volleyball and basketball. Miller was the National Honor Society President at Lodgepole High School.
