Tom Lemke joined the Athletic Department in January 2019 as an assistant director of life skills. He serves as a life skills counselor for the baseball, wrestling, football and women’s gymnastics programs. Lemke is also the staff adviser for the Inner Circle student-athlete leadership organization and coordinates events such as the Student-Athlete Career Fair, Networking Night, Moving Off Campus and Life After Sport. His additional responsibilities include serving as a social media liaison for life skills and assisting with all major life skills outreach and events.
Prior to Nebraska, Lemke served as a Leadership and Life Skills intern for the athletic department at Indiana University, where he oversaw various career development initiatives and assisted with all leadership and life skills programming. Before Indiana, he earned his master’s degree in counseling and student development from Kansas State University in 2018 and served as a graduate assistant coach for the baseball team during his time there.
A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Lemke earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska in 2013. While at Nebraska, Lemke was a student-athlete on the baseball team for three seasons as a right-handed pitcher. He received recognition as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012. He was also a first-team academic All Big 12 selection in 2011.
