Huskers Release 2017 Schedule

Head Coach Chuck Chmelka and the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team announced its 2017 schedule on Wednesday, which includes three home meets at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and a number of challenging foes.

The Huskers kick off their season on Jan. 14 at the West Point Open in West Point, N.Y, which begins at 6 p.m. The following weekend, Nebraska has its first home meet of the season against defending national champion Oklahoma, beginning at 4 p.m.

On Feb. 4, NU begins conference competition, traveling to Minneapolis, Minn., for a triangular meet against Minnesota and Iowa set to begin at 7 p.m.

Nebraska takes a trip out west to Berkeley, Calif., on Feb. 11 to compete against the University of California on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m.

As a team, the Huskers will take a few weeks off, but selected individuals will compete at the prestigious Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev. The preliminary round will take place on Feb. 16, while the finals are set for Feb. 18. Both nights, competition is set to begin at 8 p.m.

The team resumes competition against the University of Illinois-Chicago in Chicago, Ill., on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m.

On March 4, Nebraska welcomes Iowa and Penn State to the Bob Devaney Sports Center for a Big Ten triangular meet at 4 p.m.

After a bye week, Nebraska travels to Iowa City, Iowa, for a Big Ten matchup with the Hawkeyes on March 18 beginning at 4 p.m..

Nebraska concludes the regular season on March 25 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center against Minnesota starting a 4 p.m. This meet will serve as Senior Day where the team will honor seniors Austin Epperson and Coleman Tokar for their dedication and leadership over the years.

The 2017 Big Ten Championships will be held in Champaign, Ill., on April 7-8, while Army West Point will host the 2017 NCAA Championships in West Point, N.Y., on April 21-22.

Nebraska returns 16 letterwinners in 2017, including a pair of All-Americans in Epperson and Anton Stephenson. The duo hopes to lead the Huskers back to the NCAA Championships for a shot at a national title.
