Kehler in sixth through one day of P&G Champs
ANAHEIM, Calif.—Through one day of competition, newcomer and member of the current men’s U.S. Junior National Team Griffin Kehler sits in sixth place at the P&G Championships at the Honda Center on Thursday.
Kehler earned a total score of 76.000 on the day, with his best performance coming on vault where he earned a score of 13.450. Sixteen other gymnasts are competing in the junior section for men aged 17-18.
Kehler hopes to maintain his position on the U.S. Junior National Team and will participate again on the final day of competition at the P&G Championships on Saturday, August 19. The competition serves as part of the selection process for the 2017 World Championships, Oct. 2-8, at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium.
In the senior competition, four Huskers, Chris Stephenson, Kyle King, Austin Epperson, and Antonio Castro will look to move into the top rankings when they compete again on Saturday. Stephenson currently paces the Huskers and is in 15th with a score of 79.550.
