Three talented gymnasts have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Nebraska women’s gymnastics program for the 2018 season, Head Coach Dan Kendig announced Wednesday.
Anika Dujakovich (Lenexa, Kan.), Torri Hutchinson (Pearland, Texas) and Kynsee Roby (Windsor Heights, Iowa) will compete for the Huskers next season, giving NU increased depth and even more talent for the future. Kendig likes the potential of the signing class which will help the Huskers see great success in the years to come.
“We’re excited about our class," Kendig said. "They seem like they already fit in. I feel like they’re going to be great assets to our program. Not only are they good athletes, they’re good students and we’re happy to have all three families involved. We’re ready and excited to have them here.”
Dujakovich (pronounced ON-ick-uh DO-yuh-KO-vich) is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, Mo. She was a 2016 J.O. National qualifier, posting top-10 finishes on vault and floor. Dujakovich finished second on vault, bars and floor and in the all-around and third on beam at the 2016 Missouri State Championships. She also added a second-place finish on vault at the 2015 Missouri State Championships. The daughter of Andy and Tracey Dujakovich, Anika attends Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kan.
Hutchinson trains at Pearland Elite in Pearland, Texas. She is a J.O. National qualifier, earning a 10th-place finish on beam in 2014. Hutchinson finished tied for seventh on beam at the 2016 Region 3 Championships, and she finished fifth on floor at the 2015 Region 3 Championships. Torri is the daughter of Robert and Shawnda Hutchinson and she attends Pearland High School.
Roby is the latest Level 10 gymnast to sign with the Huskers out of Triad Gymnastics in Ankeny, Iowa. Roby joins current junior Danielle Breen and freshman Sierra Hassel as Huskers who trained under coaches Tom and Donna Moretti. She was a 2016 J.O. National qualifier, earning second-place finishes on bars and in the all-around, while finishing third on beam and floor. A talented beam worker, Roby owns eight beam titles in her club career, including a first-place finish on beam at the 2015 J.O. National meet. Kynsee is the daughter of Joe and Kyetta Currier and she attends Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa.
