Columbia, Mo.- Freshman diver Abigail Knapton took first place in the platform diving event at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships with a final score of 553.00 after five dives. With this win Knapton has earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships.
Omaha native Knapton lead the field through all 10 rounds of competition between the prelims and the finals. She has had a breakout freshman season, and is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the platform dive with her 318.70 posted at the Jean Freeman Invitational earlier this season.
Sophomore Katrina Voge posted a 416.40 in the finals of the platform event giving her with a 17th-place finish. Voge also had an impressive season with the Huskers this year, posting career bests in both the one-meter and three-meter events in the fall.
Knapton will join senior Anna Filipcic at the 2017 NCAA Championships, which will be held in Indianapolis, March 15-18.
