Samantha Musil (pronounced Muscle) continued to develop into an all-round thrower for the Huskers in 2010... set a personal best in the weight throw at the Nebraska Tune-Up with a throw of 56-10... improved her PR in the shot put the following week at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a sixth-place toss of 49-11... competed in the shot put, discus and hammer throw outdoors... cleared 185-10 in the hammer at the Texas Tech Dual to break her previous best of 182-5 by over three feet... earned All-Big 12 honors in the discus (6th) and hammer throw (5th) for the second straight year at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships... ended the year at the NCAA West Regional where she competed in the shot put, discus and hammer throw.
Musil set a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 50-11 1/2 at the Tyson Invitational... posted wins in the discus at the Nebraska Invitational and Concordia Twilight... recorded a season-best throw of 161-7 at the Ward Haylett Invitational... earned two All-Big 12 honors at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, placing seventh in the discus and fifth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 172-6... ended the year with a 12th-place showing in the discus at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
2008 (Redshirt Freshman/Sophomore)
Musil redshirted the indoor and outdoor track seasons after transferring to Nebraska from Georgia Tech... worked on throwing the weight during the indoor season, including a then-personal best of 44-1 1/4, as an unattached athlete at the adidas Classic... competed unattached at both home meets during the outdoor season, posting a personal best of 159-3 in the hammer at the Nebraska Invitational.

Musil transferred from Georgia Tech where she redshirted during the 2007 indoor season and competed during the outdoor season... placed 12th in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a toss of 163-7, after recording a throw of 167-5 in the prelims... placed second in the discus at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships... earned a spot on Team USA for the 2007 Pan-Am Junior Championships in Brazil... placed second in the discus at 152-7... graduated from Pawnee City (Neb.) High School in 2006, where she was coached by Alan Strong and Mark Leonard... set and still holds the Nebraska Class D record in the discus with a throw of 157-2... won back-to-back-to-back discus titles at the state meet from 2004 to 2006 after finishing runner-up as a freshman in 2003... won the shot put in her junior and senior seasons at the state meet... posted back-to-back shot put and discus win at the USA National Championships in the young women’s division in 2005 and 2006... member of the National Honor Society.
Parents are Bob and Tammy Musil... born Feb. 9, 1988... majored in elementary education... earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in August of 2012.
