Career Notes

2005-Jeremy Emerson earned a 6-9 record, including 1-3 in duals, in 2005 at 125 pounds. Emerson recorded two medical decisions as he was a backup to Matt Keller during the season.


2004-Emerson spent most of the year backing up national champion Jason Powell at 125 pounds.  In dual competition, Emerson was 2-1.  He won two matches at the Nebraska Duals, including a 16-5 major decision over Craig Trampe of Dana College.  His only blemish was a 6-3 defeat by Andrew Domingues of Minnesota, as Emerson filled in for an ill Powell.  Emerson earned fourth at the UNK Open with a 3-2 mark.


2003-Emerson recorded an 11-12 overall record while recording the first dual victory of his career at the Virginia Duals with a 5-0 decision over Dan Apelo of Brown. He added a seventh-place finish at the Mat Town Invite on Nov. 30. Emerson was named to the first-team academic All-Big 12 squad.


2002- Emerson recorded a 13-11 overall record for the Huskers.  His best finish came in the Dana Open, where he took home a third-place finish on Jan. 12.


2001-Emerson compiled a 9-12 record wrestling in open tournaments as a redshirt in 2000-01.  Emerson finished fourth at the UNO Glen Brand Open on Jan. 6 and placed fifth at the Northwestern College Open on Jan. 27.


Before Nebraska-While wrestling for Head Coach Rick Benson at Columbus High School, Emerson racked up a career record of 102-36 in his four years. Twice named the most improved wrestler for Columbus, Emerson went 39-1 in his senior season en route to a third-place finish at state. He was also a two-time conference and district champion at 112 pounds.


Personal-The son of Stan and LeAnne Emerson, Jeremy was born May 16, 1981. Jeremy has two brothers, Bryan, 21 and Jon, 17, and one sister, Kaleigh, 14.  Jeremy is an architectural studies major.
