2005 (Senior)
Offensive guard Brandon Koch (pronouced COE) returns for his senior season after starting all 11 games at left guard in 2004. Koch is one of three returning starters on the Husker offensive line this fall, joining junior Kurt Mann and fellow senior Seppo Evwaraye.

The Gothenburg, Neb., native switched sides on the offensive line this spring and is listed atop the depth chart at right guard entering fall camp. A former walk-on Koch earned a scholarship at the conclusion of spring practice in 2004, and rewarded the coaches for the confidence with a solid fall campaign.

Koch helped the Nebraska offensive line develop into a solid unit in 2004. In the first year of the West Coast Offense, the Huskers featured a balanced attack, rushing for more than 176 yards per game, while accounting for nearly 187 passing yards per contest. The line adapted well to increased pass protection chores, allowing just 16 sacks on the season.

The 6-4, 310-pound Koch was a key contributor throughout the 2003 season. He played every game as Nebraska's top backup at both guard spots, and earned a pair of starts during the year. He played in six games as a reserve in 2002, and redshirted in 2001.

Koch is also a standout in the classroom, carrying a 3.196 cumulative grade-point average in secondary education. Koch is a six-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a second-team academic All-Big 12 pick in 2004, after earning first-team honors in 2003.

2004 (Junior)
Koch started all 11 games at left guard for Nebraska, joining Mann and Evwaraye as first-year starters on the line. Koch and the offensive line helped the Huskers to a quick start, paving the way for big offensive numbers in the first two games. The Huskers racked up 581 yards in total offense in the opener against Western Illnois, with 476 yards a week later against Southern Miss. Nebraska put together both offensive efforts without the line allowing a sack.

The offensive line played a key part in NU's balanced attack on the season, and helped the Huskers establish a new single-game passing record with 342 yards through the air against Baylor. Nebraska racked up 511 yards of total offense in that contest, its best output in Big 12 play.

2003 (Sophomore)
Koch played in all 13 games and started against Troy State and Colorado. He filled in for the injured Jake Andersen against Troy State, then moved ahead of Andersen on the depth chart before the Colorado game to earn his second start. Koch helped Nebraska to a No.7 national ranking in rushing offense at nearly 240 yards per game. He also started on Nebraska's PAT and field-goal units.

2002 (Redshirt Freshman)
Koch played in six games, each of the first three contests and against McNeese State, Kansas and Ole Miss in the Independence Bowl.

2001 (Redshirt)
Koch redshirted in his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Gothenburg HS)
Koch starred as an offensive tackle, defensive tackle and defensive end at Gothenburg High School for co-coaches Craig Haake and Roger Koehler. Koch helped the Swedes to the state playoffs in 1998 and 1999, leading the team in pancake blocks. He made 293 career tackles on defense and had 22 tackles for loss as a senior. Koch was a Class C-1 all-state selection on defense by the Lincoln Journal Star as a senior. He was also an academic all-state selection and earned four letters in wrestling and two in track.

Personal
Brandon is the son of Loren and Mary Koch. He was born on Nov. 14, 1982, and is majoring in secondary education. In addition to his strong classroom work, Koch is also a regular participant in NU's community outreach efforts. He was an honorable-mention pick to the 2003 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team, and recently served as a volunteer speaker during American Education Week.
