  • Two-Time Brook Berringer Citizenship Team Member (2004, 2005)

2005 (Senior)
Jake Peetz served in a reserve role on the Husker special teams and in the secondary in his Nebraska career and also made an impact in the community. As a senior, Peetz was a reserve long snapper and cornerback, but did not appear in a game.

Peetz was one of the most active student-athletes off the field, twice being named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team for his extensive community outreach work. An exercise science major, Peetz earned his bachelor’s degree in December of 2005.

Career
Peetz was Nebraska's No. 2 long snapper as a junior, but did not play in a game. He walked on to the football program in 2003 as a backup long snapper, but did not play. Peetz transferred to Nebraska in 2002, after spending one year as a student at the University of Arizona. While sitting out in 2002, Peetz worked as a student assistant with Nebraska's strength and conditioning staff.

Before Nebraska (O'Neill St. Mary's HS)
Peetz was a multi-sport standout for O'Neill St. Mary's High School. On the gridiron he handled the team's snapping duties and also played tight end, cornerback and defensive end for Coach Darold Schneider. Peetz earned honorable-mention all-state honors as both a junior and senior in the eight-man ranks and helped O'Neill St. Mary's to a district title in his junior year. In basketball, Peetz earned all-state honors as a senior, while finishing second in Class D in assists per game and making nearly 47 percent of his three-point attempts. He also lettered three times in track and earned state medalist honors as part of 4x400 and 4x800-meter relay teams.

Personal
The son of Frosty and Nancy Peetz, Jake was born on April 5, 1983. Jake earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in exercise science in December of 2005. Peetz has twice been named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team. He is a football representative to Nebraska's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has volunteered his time with the Special Olympics, the Dads of Kids with Disabilities Program, as well as speaking at Lincoln's Elliott Elementary and visiting numerous hospitals and schools in the area. Jake is the cousin of former Nebraska tight end Phil Peetz, who completed his NU career in 2003.
