“In singles we have Aumueller and Lindheim in the round of 16, and I am proud of the way these two guys battled after struggling in their second round matches,” Nebraska head coach Kerry McDermott said. “Mentally they hung in and just competed like they should and believed in themselves. We are looking forward to a strong performance tomorrow and plenty of good competition.”

In doubles play, the No. 2 overall seed in NU’s duo of Aumueller and Lindheim were victorious in their first round match when they knocked off Western Illinois’ team of Patrick Hammers and Gino Octa, 8-0. The other Nebraska doubles team to compete was the team of Andre Stenger and Robert Schulze who up set the No. 7 seed in Oklahoma’s team of Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong, 8-4. Both doubles teams will be back in action Sunday.

“I thought we had a very good day in doubles,” McDermott said. “We started the day off with a huge upset when Stenger and Schulze defeated the No. 7 seed in the first round. It was a very impressive performance from our guys. Aumueller and Lindheim played as expected and looked solid in their win.”

The Huskers will be back in action Sunday when singles and doubles play continues at the USTA/ITA Regional Championship.
