Former Husker Chelsea Aubry scored six points to help the Canadian women's basketball team to an Olympic win over the hosts from Great Britain on Monday at the London Basketball Arena.

Aubry, a 6-2 forward from Kitchener, Ontario, added three rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot for the Canadians, who picked up their first victory of the London Games with a 73-65 win over the British. Through a pair of Olympic contests, the 28-year-old Aubry is averaging 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds as a starter.

Canada improved to 1-1 in Women's Group B pool action, after dropping a 58-53 decision in its first game to Russia on Saturday. Aubry, who became the first Husker women's basketball player to ever play in the Olympics, scored Canada's first points of the game on a three-pointer. She finished with three points and three boards for Canada against Russia. The Canadians led the Russians for a majority of the game, at times by double digits, before WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon powered Russia's late comeback. She finished with 14 points. Canada entered the Olympics ranked No. 11 in the world, while Russia is No. 2 in the world behind Team USA.

While the Canadians let an upset chance slip away against Russia, they turned the tables late on Great Britain. In a back-and-forth game, Canada led by as many as seven points midway through the third quarter, before Great Britain surged to take a 61-57 lead with 6:10 left in the game.

Canada responded with a 9-0 run to take a 66-61 lead with 2:32 left, and Great Britain could get no closer than three points the rest of the way.

Aubry, who was a four-year letterwinner at Nebraska from 2004 through 2007, returns to Olympic action with Canada against France on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 3 a.m. (central). The French are 2-0 in Group B pool play with a 73-58 win over Brazil on Saturday and a 74-70 victory over Australia on Monday.
