Denver - The Nebraska men's tennis team faced off against Denver and Air Force in the second day of the DU Invitational on Saturday, winning 10 matches in all.
The Huskers faced off against Denver in doubles. Nebraska's pair of Andre Stenger and Eric Sock defeated Max Krammer and Jens Vorkefeld 8-3, while NU's Marc Herrmann and Sebastian Florczyk knocked off Denver's Alex Clinkenbeard and Frederick Bjorne 8-6. Nebraska's duo of Scott Elsass and Bradford Zitsch fell in a hard fought battle to Denver's Fabio Biasion and Luke Manley by a score of 8-6.
The Huskers were matched against Air Force in singles. NU's Herrmann knocked off Alex Grubbs 6-3, 6-2. Sock notched a singles win against Air Force's Steve Young by a score of 6-4, 6-2, along with Boyer who defeated Grant Taylor 6-4, 6-4. Florczyk beat Jack McCullers 6-4, 7-6, and Zitsch defeated Air Force's Ali Rizvi 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Videtich also produced a victory against the Falcons, beating Andy Jackson 6-2, 6-3.
Freshman Scott Elsass added a victory of his own defeating Andrew Parks 6-2, 6-4, while freshman Gagan Jain knocked off Stephen Katerein 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Stenger fell to Air Force's Lance Wilhelm 1-6, 7-6, 7-6.
"We had a very good day with both singles and doubles," Nebraska Coach Kerry McDermott said. "I'm pleased with how our guys performed. I thought we did a good job of staying focused and controlling matches."
The Huskers face off against New Mexico in singles and Air Force in doubles on Sunday.
