Minneapolis, Minn. - The Huskers kick off the ITA Regional Championships Thursday, hosted by the University of Minnesota, for the central region at the Baseline Tennis Center. The sanctioned tournament will run from Oct. 18-22.
The Huskers will be matched up against student-athletes from Oklahoma, Tulsa, Drake, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wichita State, Oklahoma State, Bradley, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Iowa, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Western Illinois, Creighton, South Dakota State, and St. Louis.
Qualifying rounds will begin on Oct. 18 with three rounds of singles competition. The first round will be an eight-game pro-set, while the second and third round matches are two out of three sets with a tie-break in lieu of a third set. There will be one round of consolation singles.
On Thursday Nebraskas Brandon Videtich will face off against Southern Illinois University's Nicholas Vincent in qualifying singles play. NU's Tom Blackwell has a bye for qualifying singles, while Nebraskas Scott Elsass will be matched up against South Dakota State Universities Andrea Boglic.
The main draw starts on Friday, Oct. 19 with two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles. Quarterfinals begin on Sunday, Oct. 21. The tournament will wrap up on Monday with singles and doubles finals.
