Nebraska senior Janis Leitis was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday as he was named the league's male field athlete of the week.
Leitis produced a successful weekend where finished first in the 60 meters at the NWU Invite on Friday and also won the 200 meters and the long jump at the adidas Classic last Saturday. He posted times of 6.92 in the 60 meters and 21.45 in the 200 meters, along with a mark of 24-8 ¼ (7.52) in the long jump. He ranks first in the conference and is fifth in the nation in the long jump. The award marks the first indoor track and field weekly award of his career.
