It's gameday, and what better place to be than nestled in the middle of the Nebraska campus cheering on the Huskers as they face some of the top teams in the nation while adding to the tradition of NU Soccer.
Located in between the home of two other storied programs - Husker football and volleyball - the Nebraska Soccer Field adds the finishing touch to the well-conceived layout the Huskers enjoy. The west end of the field leads to the Hawks Championship Center, allowing Nebraska to utilize their locker room at halftime, in addition to pregame and postgame.
Amenities such as sideline seating that give fans an up-close view of the action mere feet from the sidelines, a new video screen/scoreboard and conveniently located concessions and restrooms add to the atmosphere, along with a brilliant red 'N' emblazened across the center circle in the middle of the field.
The Nebraska Soccer Field offers a truly unique setting unlike any other in the nation. Its proximity to the Huskers' locker rooms and meeting rooms, as well as the strength and athletic medicine facilities makes Nebraska's newest facilities not only the most unique, but the most functional and convenient as well.
Nebraska's home field has also given the Huskers a definitive advantage. Since moving to campus in 2005, the Huskers are 54-22-12 at home over the past eight seasons, including
an impressive combined record of 25-11-4 over the past four seasons.
Nebraska Soccer Field
One
of the top soccer stadiums in the nation, the Nebraska Soccer Field became
the new home of the Huskers beginning in the fall of 2005. The 3,500 seat
stadium is located in the heart of campus between Memorial Stadium and the
Nebraska Coliseum, marking the first time in program history Nebraska calls
campus home on game day.
One
of the most anticipated and exciting additions to the Nebraska Soccer
Field is the sparkling new digital video screen/scoreboard that dazzles
both fans and players alike.
The
proximity of the field allows the Huskers immediate access to their other
training facilities, including the indoor practice field located in the Hawks
Championship Center.
The
proximity of the locker room provides Nebraska with a private meeting room at
halftime that provides a relief from any potential inclement weather conditions
as well as comfortable seating and restroom facilities for the players.
Located
in the Nebraska soccer offices, the Jenna Cooper Team Room provides a
spacious room for meetings. The NU squad uses the room for team gatherings,
video analysis, pre and post game meetings and much more. It is named after
former Husker Jenna Cooper.
After
the game, the Huskers can relax together in the players' lounge
before heading home, a feat made more convenient because of the
field's proximity to the dorms on campus, as well as several popular apartment
complexes and student parking lots.
