Will Marshall shot an even-par 72 in the opening round to lead the Huskers on the first day of the Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla., on Sunday.
Marshall, a fifth-year senior out of Elburn, Ill., carded three birdies in the opening round to end the day in a tie for 11th on the par-72, 7,320-yard layout of the Calusa Pines Golf Club.
Husker junior Harry Crockett added a strong round of his own with a 73 (+1) to head to Monday's second round among tied for 15th among the top individuals in the eight-team tournament.
As a team, the Huskers managed a 12-over-par 300, while Florida holds the team lead entering the second round at 283 (-5). Wake Forest sits four strokes back of the Gators in second at 287 (-1).
Golfers are set to resume action with tee times beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) on Monday, followed by the final round on Tuesday.
