PEO History

Beginning in 2015, the Husker Post-Eligibility Opportunities Program (PEO) has offered letterwinner alumni a one-semester scholarship, valued up to $7,500, to apply toward an internship, study abroad experience or graduate school. This groundbreaking one-of-a-kind program received the 2017 NACE Chevron Award which recognizes the most innovative career services program in the nation. In the Fall 2022 semester, the PEO program expanded its offerings to allow graduate school funding at ANY institution and added the option of funding approved entrepreneur endeavors to start a business or continuing operating an already established business begun during the student-athlete’s tenure at Nebraska.

From the program’s inception in 2015 through the start of the Spring 2024 semester, Husker PEO has provided postgraduate scholarship funding for 289 internships, 154 graduate/medical school experiences, and 23 study abroad opportunities to Husker letterwinner graduates for an unmatched total of 466 postgraduate experiences. To date, the PEO program has awarded over $3.2 million in scholarship funding to help Husker letterwinners increase their career marketability, personal development, and intellectual growth.
