VB vs Ohio State-JH030

CSC Academic All-Americans

Nebraska's rich tradition of academic excellence is solidified on the national level through the University's dominance of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America awards. University of Nebraska student-athletes from all teams and all sports have combined to far outdistance any other school in the country. Nebraska has a nation-leading total of 351 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-Americans (as of Feb. 1, 2024).

To be considered for the award, student-athletes must be sophomore status or above, maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, be a team starter or key reserve and be active in the community. Every Nebraska student-athlete who garners first-team Academic All-American recognition has an oil painting portrait completed in their honor, and the picture is forever displayed in the Memorial Stadium Hall of Distinction in West Stadium.

Nebraska became the first school across all sports and all divisions to reach the 300 milestone in 2012-13. In fact, only eight other schools across all divisions (MIT, 419; Stanford, 336; Notre Dame, 276; John Hopkins, 244; Alabama, 228; Penn State, 225; Washington University in St. Louis, 217 and Emory, 213) have reached the 200 mark.

The Nebraska football team leads the nation (all teams, all sports, all divisions) with 108 College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans - 41 more than second-place Penn State.

The Nebraska volleyball team leads all NCAA Division I women's teams all-time across all sports with 40. Only one other NCAA Division I volleyball program has more than 15 all-time Academic All-Americans (Stanford, 21). The Nebraska softball team is fifth among all women's programs with 30, trailing only Husker volleyball, Alabama softball (37), Arkansas track and field/cross country (34), and Tennessee softball (32).

Nebraska also leads NCAA Division I men's track and field/cross country programs all-time with 34 all-time Academic All-Americans, nine more than second-place Oregon (25). The Husker women's track and field/cross country program is among the top five all-time in NCAA Division I with 22 Academic All-Americans.

The Husker baseball program ranks fifth all time in NCAA Division I with 21 Academic All-Americans of its own.
