Two Huskers Selected to All-Region Teams

Two members of the Nebraska bowling team were selected to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Region Teams announced Wednesday. Jillian Martin was named to the Second Team All-Central Region while Brenna Hartzler earned First Team All-Rookie honors.

Martin garnered a Second-Team All-Central Region selection for the first time in her career, a year after being named to the First-Team All Rookie team. She bowled in 44 games this season and averaged 205.1 pins, the highest by a Husker during the regular season. The sophomore posted three top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up placement at the Flyer Classic. Martin averaged 200.0+ pins in six of the nine tournaments, and rolled a season-high 269 at the Prairie View A&M Invite.

Hartzler is honored for the first time in her career with a First Team All-Rookie selection in the central region. She competed in all nine regular-season tournaments, including all 46 games this season, as she was the only Husker to compete in every game this year. The freshman posted one top-five finish and four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up placement at the MOTIV Penguin Classic. Hartzler was the highest placing Husker in two tournaments this season, eclipsing the 1,000-pin mark in five of her nine tournaments.

There are two all-region teams – Northeast and Central – which select 15 student-athletes per region. Each team includes five first-team honorees, five second-team selections and five honorable-mention picks. Each all-rookie team includes five first-team honorees and five second-team selections.
